I understand, but keep in mind that you only worked two weeks in October and less than two weeks in November. Despite that, the guy will still pay you for the days you didn’t work. It’s just a minor hitch that will be resolved as things return to normal. There are others working daily on automation who are owed over two months’ pay but have managed to stay calm. Take it easy—at least you’re getting something.
This is quite an interesting case. Why? Because that hybrid system has been in use for years.
It’s the same hybrid system used in the previous Santa Fe, Tucson, Sorento, and Sportage.
There have been a few updates in the new Santa Fe.
Your case is the first one I’ve seen like this.
@Christopher
That’s exactly why we went with the hybrid! Believed it to be more trusted because it was a previously used engine in other Hyundai models. Just so upset and disappointed. Facebook Hybrid group has similar occurrences unfortunately.
You mention their stereotypical MO, but in my country, Hyundai is known for reliability. I’m confused…

There’s been some side discussion every now and then, where the models built here in the US are lacking/cutting corners compared to those built back in SK and elsewhere. The imports seem to have never caused anyone issues, which clearly has inflated the problems/accusations.
Sucks… sorry to hear. To be fair, my mother-in-law’s 24’ Toyota Corolla cross had a similar breakdown. It happens, it shouldn’t, but it does. Toyota took care of it… hope Hyundai does the same for you.
@BobReuben
Thanks! I’m hoping so too.
Man… sorry to hear that were there no warnings prior to it breaking down?

No immediate ones before losing power expect for the warning on driver assist popping up. The only ‘odd’ thing prior to the event was the day before I noticed that the miles left to empty was not dropping. It was at 145 miles til empty and had only gone down by a few miles after my 30-mile round trip.
@klausmark3
So you ran out of gas?

You have no idea how much I wished that was the case.

That’s the first thing I thought when OP said that. The fuel-level sensor got stuck, the ICE engine ran out of fuel, power dropped, but the car kept running for a bit off of electric before dying.
@Leeland
It did not run out of gas If that was the case, she’d be sitting in our garage and all would be right with the world again.
@klausmark3
Hmmm that’s really interesting… I don’t have the hybrid, but this was also an issue of worry for me too🥺.
What was the error code it displayed?

Dealer wouldn’t share with us, but only said we’d have to leave the car as they look into it further.

That’s pretty sketchy. Let us know when you can what you find out.
@Jacob
Will do. Yea, it was an odd experience. Dealer was confused by the code that popped up and said we’d have to leave the car for them to investigate further. Provided a rental indefinitely. Initially told us when we walked in there was a waiting list of up to 20 others waiting for a rental. When we pointed to our car on the tow and let them know what happened, they were magically quick to act and assist.
I’ve had the worst experience with Hyundai case management! My hybrid battery died in my Sonata and it’s been at the dealership since May at this point… waiting for the battery .
Oh my goodness, I have a SEL Hybrid, but the Calligraphy? I understand it’s the same engine and everything minus the extra features, but this has me worried now. My Hybrid got to 4700 miles so far, but this is interesting. I’m gonna keep an eye on mine after seeing this, and I hope Hyundai does take care of you because the gas version of the Santa Fe is already a tough buy, and this would definitely seal the deal with the Palisade remaining the flagship for their brand.
