How much should I try to negotiate on this Kona?

I’m looking at a 2022 Hyundai Kona N-Line.

It’s fully loaded with the ultimate package, and the price is listed at $29,888 (before tax and other fees). The car has 47,499 km on it, no damage, clean Carfax, and only one previous owner.

The dealer quoted an all-in price of $29,500. What do you all think about this price?

That sounds high! I got a brand new 2024 Limited AWD for 35k a few months ago, so 30k for this seems pretty steep.

Exactly! At this point, I’m wondering if it makes more sense to go for a new car. This price feels kind of excessive.

Really hope that’s CAD and not USD because that price is hard to believe.

Yes, I’m in Canada :joy:

Got it! I figured as much. 35k USD is nearly 50k CAD, which is just wild for a Kona. But for you, 29.5k CAD isn’t too bad. I’d go for it.

@TucsonTalker3
My Limited was 35k USD, which included all fees and taxes. MSRP was a bit over 33k, plus extra for freight and taxes. I think I ended up paying a bit less than MSRP with everything included. Even freight alone was almost $1,500.

For that price, you could get a used N. Just a thought.

True, that’s roughly the price. Quick question though: what if there was another 2022 Kona N-Line with minor hail damage, 35,513 km, priced at $22,000? My worry is that future resale value would probably drop. Which one would you pick?

@NinaCaldwell
I’d skip that one.

:joy::joy::joy: Alright, the dealer is trying to sell me on it right now, but I just can’t get on board with that price. Plus, the other option just seems better.

@NinaCaldwell
If resale value is a priority, you might want to steer clear of Hyundai in general…

Is this in CAD? I got my Kona N with 20k miles for 26k USD.

Yes, it’s CAD.

Are you in Canada? The Ultimate model here is like the Limited in the US. They do cost more up here. You might want to check with Canadian buyers if you’re looking for advice.

Is that in Canadian dollars? This car should be around $19k with mileage on it.

Yes, CAD. If it were 19k, I’d buy it immediately :joy:

Honestly, who cares.

It’s red, it’s used… decent price for what’s available, but yeah, it’s red.

Any history of damage?

Nope, no damage. What’s the deal with red? Good or bad?? :sob:
