Hyundai won't give me a buyback… what should I do?

Just wondering, are they trying to fix it under the CPO warranty? Did they offer you a loaner while you wait?

Yes, it’s covered under the CPO warranty. They didn’t have a loaner available for the first 20 days, but they finally gave me one two weeks ago. Hyundai will only reimburse you for a rental, but you have to pay for it yourself first.

@BrianCopland
I had my 2021 Kona Electric in the shop for just under a month. Hyundai corporate reimburses you daily for rentals through Zelle if your repair takes too long. It’s not well-publicized, but it’s a real thing. Just call them and ask.

The dealership fixing the car isn’t the one I bought it from. The selling dealer wouldn’t take it in for 3 weeks. I didn’t get a loaner until 20 days in.

They couldn’t take it sooner because other people had appointments. It’s a big job.

@CleinCaster
I’m not a Karen, expecting special treatment. I’m also an auto tech at a Chrysler dealer, so I understand both sides. If your engine blew 3 months after you bought a car, you’d be upset too.

@BrianCopland
You said those ‘assholes’ couldn’t take you in for 3 weeks, so excuse me for thinking you didn’t understand how it works.

@BrianCopland
It’s a used car. It’s 2-3 years old, and who knows how the previous owner treated it. That’s the downside of buying used.

You bought a used Hyundai…

@AminaCooks
Why are you even here? You seem like you just want to bash Hyundai.

Maybe they work for a Hyundai dealer.

Just adding some reality to the discussion.

Your comments aren’t adding substance. You’re just being snarky.

@WayneSonataTalk
It’s a used car. That means something could go wrong at any time, but it’s covered under warranty. These repairs can take months, especially now. Loaners aren’t guaranteed unless there’s a backorder on parts. It’s not a new Lexus, so don’t expect to be treated like you bought one.

@AminaCooks
Whether it’s a $10k car or a $100k car, the manufacturer is responsible for providing a defect-free product. If they can’t, they need to fix or replace it in a timely manner.

With all due respect, you’re an auto tech at a Chrysler dealer, and you bought a Hyundai? I hope you expected this to happen. Shit car + shit dealerships = shit experience. Get a lawyer, not Reddit. Good luck.

@barak
I didn’t know, and I should have researched more. The tow truck driver said the same thing. But I’m an autobody tech, not a mechanic.
