Just got my new Kona N Line this week and the key doesn't impress me

Like the title says, I just had my very first new car delivered this week. It’s a big upgrade from my 2008 Ford Fiesta and is fun to drive. But when I got the keys, I was pretty disappointed. They feel cheap, poorly made, and almost like an afterthought for a £42k car. Is anyone else feeling the same about this?

At first glance, I thought this was a spoon

Looks a bit like Forky’s sister from Toy Story 4, Spoony

A Hyundai rep mentioned it was meant to look like a river stone. The cheap feel and detached key seem like an afterthought

When I see the Hyundai logo, I don’t see the stone reference.

@Robert
Yeah, lol, what was that employee thinking? It’s just the H logo at face value

It’s about the shape and feel of the plastic. Sure, the Hyundai logo determines the button layout.

@danielsteeler
Fair enough, but the entire logo is a circle. While I understand your point, I just find it amusing comparing it to a river stone.

@Robert
The employee works for Hyundai.

I see where they’re coming from, it feels nice, but it’s not practical in most other ways. Plus, the lack of weight from the physical key (another impracticality) makes it feel less sturdy than the previous fob.

@Robert
Feels ridiculously cheap and is way too large.

@Robert
The previous wedge-shaped fob was better designed overall. I really don’t like the fobs with smart park; it’s easier for people to accidentally open their liftgate.
