4 weeks in service and an expected 3 weeks to go. What good is a 100K 10 Year warranty if it takes MONTHS to get service. No loaner, no rental reimbursement just live without a car for months till it gets finished. We have a 23 Santa Cruz with just over 13K miles and the dual clutch transmission failed. took a week and a half just to get the diagnostics done. Another week for Hyundia to approve the repair. Was told a week for the new transmission to arrive and week or more to install. Such a bad business model.
Sorry this happened to you
Thank you, now trying to be a warning message to others on how service will go if they do need it.

My car went from 3 days to 3 weeks with no word from the dealer for what started out as replacing the timing chain. Didn’t get my car back for 6 months (with a new engine) and when I did get it back there was evidence that an animal had made a home under the seats of the car at some point. (Elantra GT so the bottom of the seats fold into the foot space) Suffice it to say Hyundai service is not my favorite.
I went thru 3 loaner cars maxing out their allowable mileage in the meantime.

Most people don’t know how to drive a DCT, they’re gonna break.

After 13K miles it shouldn’t make a difference. It’s just a piece of shit.

I agree and combine that with improper operation - it’s a disaster. Bad design choice imo

Damn. Any idea what the dos and don’ts are? I have a 2021 Sonata 1.6T which I believe has a DCT. TIA

Interesting. If a DCT needs a special way of driving, then those who buy it should be trained by the dealership and instruction included in the owner’s manual. Otherwise, do not put a DCT in a normal personal car.

Unfortunately this is happening with Hyundai and Kia. Transmissions , motors , weeks to months back order. I guess that’s what happens with Temu quality vehicles. Sorry for your issues.

Did they give you a rental?
No, I would be a lot more amenable to the situation if they did provide one for the duration. I was told you only get one for two days and, of course, they are out of loaners. I have a feeling they keep two loaners and those two are out at all times,

Bro said business model
LOL, yeah. I was referring to keeping minimum staff and forcing the tech to put all information into a ticket system and wait for someone to tell them what to fix and get approval for anything that gets done. The approval alone can take days to get though the ticket system.

I’m learning this is a dealership issue. Our 2022 Tucson Limited Hybrid had the transmission fail around 20k miles over two months ago. The closest dealership (Fred Beans Hyundai) wouldn’t even get us in for a month, told us it was up to us whether we wanted to drive it or not. Second dealership, Lehigh Valley Hyundai, which is about 45min from us, told us it sounded like a serious problem (car was making a high pitched noise as it accelerated) and to bring it in ASAP. They set us up with a rental from Enterprise on their dime, was ready for us when we got there. The lead technician went for a drive and diagnosed it right away. Hours later they sent me a text message with a link to a service portal that included a video of them with my car in the shop walking me through what the problem was and showing the engine open and the sound I heard - it was the hybrid transmission. The car was in the shop for maybe 5 days.
They also recently fixed my 2021 elantra that had a bad radar unit. The closest dealership told me it would be $3k and my problem, Lehigh Hyundai fixed it under warranty free of charge and set me up with a rental again. I’m actually going to sell the Elantra and go back there to buy a new 2025 Kona SEL Electric.
I did talk to corporate to complain about the Fred Beans Hyundai and they took me seriously. They said that unfortunately, each dealership is unique. I hope you can find a better one, sounds like you have a bad one.

This is so unreal, I wonder if your story is true. Forgive this unknown stranger doubting your story.
I live in Maryland. And I genuinely think all the Hyundai dealerships in Maryland don’t give two cents about owners.
I’ve never had a great experience at a Hyundai dealership in my 15 years of owning a Hyundai.
Your experience is what I get when I take my wives Mercedes in for service.

What you said in about the warranty. Say it louder for the people in the back

Hate when corporations don’t take responsibility for their dealerships. How else can we get warranty service?

How people are treated in these situations are why I will not purchase another Hyundai.

This is a US-specific issue, fwiw. No problems getting a service in the UK, I just rang my local dealer to check and they have availability Wednesday next week

Same in Canada. We can get appointments for next week no problem.
