Is it the N Line S model you have?
I’m in Canada, and the highest trim here is the Kona N Line, which is what I have

In Canada, they have both N Line and N Line Ultimate; the original poster’s model would be similar to the N Line Ultimate.

That makes sense. I know the top spec in the UK is the N Line S, which comes with HUD and electric seats. My dealer had that model which included the black key fob
@TaraSimmons
In New Zealand, we have N Line or N Line Limited (which include electric seats, heaters, HUD etc.). I have the standard N Line (Hybrid) and my key is black. I’d prefer it if the fob was more compact and looked better.
@Zack12
Mine is fully electric, so that might explain the color scheme.

I think the key might correspond with the car’s color, but I could be wrong.

You could be right. The problem is, this color scheme isn’t present anywhere else on the car. I’ve got black cloth with red stitching inside, which is part of why the key annoys me
@TaraSimmons
That’s a bummer; sorry about that
@TaraSimmons
I was shocked to learn that the HUD is only offered in the N Line Ultimate (electric) in Canada.
I think it’s just a standard part, in this case, simply a different color than normal. It’s also where I would prefer less money spent on quality when buying a car.

Just an FYI, you can pair an old key fob to your new car if it’s bothering you that much.
For what it’s worth, I’m not a fan, but I can deal with it.
Is that actually possible? Have you done it yourself?
I checked briefly, but it seemed like different chips are for different fobs.
You can find cheap fob covers on Amazon for that key. I have a different one, but still got a cover for mine so it doesn’t wear out like my husband’s.
They’re probably thinking most people keep their keys in their pocket, so why is it such a big deal?
I agree, this key fob is ugly
I have the 2024 Elantra N key and I dislike it. I can’t even get the NFC card to work. I prefer a physical item rather than this silly key.
This has to be the worst key fob in car history
You don’t actually drive a key
My husband hates this key, but it has grown on me. I might be the only person who doesn’t mind it. Just saying

You’re not alone. I like mine too. It’s practical. The design is okay. The only issue I have is that it could be a bit thinner. But overall it doesn’t bother me too much in my pockets where it stays most of the time.
